NICK CAREY - ELECTRIC BASS PLAYER
Welcome to my new website which I've created to share my passion for the bass and funk music... GAP Band, Bootsy, Parliament, 'little' Stevie Wonder, Commodores and Rick James are all heroes !!
This web site is also a chance for self-promotion as I'm available for session work or private tuition ('services' pages under construction).
Check back regularly because over the next few months I will be updating the site with interesting links to great players and bands ... and I may throw in a couple of my own original compositions (you have been warned).
A bit of background about me...
I was taught by renowned London based tutors Stefan Redtenbacher, Paul Geary and Paul Francis (you may know them as columnists in Bass magazines). I've got over 15 years experience performing Funk, Acid Jazz, Rock, Pop and Blues and been lucky enough to showcase with named artistes including Carleen Andersen, Teri Lynne Carrington, Bob Malach, Ace and Mark Rich.
I'm a graduate of the Academy of Contemporary Music and studied further with the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts. Qualifications include; Higher Diploma in Music, Certificate in Music and ABRSM Grade 5 Theory. I'm currently studying for an Open College of the Arts' certificate in Music Composition.
My style is 'in your pocket' groove playing with a rhythmic ghost note vibe and some tasty improvised parts thrown in. Players who have influenced me include: Rocco Prestia, James Jamerson, Billy Sheehan, Sting, Jaco Pastorious, Paul McCartney, Geddy Lee, Michael Anthony .... and the list goes on.
I'm always up for a jam with like-minded funksters or if you want to talk bass ... get in touch through the 'contacts page' !
